In 1971, Renzo Nosenzo founded Carrozzeria 71 in Moncalvo, near Asti, Piedmont, whose mission was to repair and adapt special vehicles for the transport of racing cars and industrial vehicles. In 1978, Renzo got closer to the world of disabilities when he developed a friendship with a disabled person. That moment marked a major turnaround for the company, Carrozzeria 71 decided to focus more and more on the design and implementation of mobility solutions for persons with disabilities. As a result of it, Help III was designed and built, the first passenger lift for transporting wheelchair passengers.
Handytech becomes the new brand specializing in driving and transport devices to enhance the mobility of people with disabilities, fully designed and manufactured in-house. The company begins its collaboration with Fiat and other major manufacturers dedicated to the sector.
In collaboration with Okey Technologie and Fiat, , the first car with multiple adaptations is presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1993. The Handytech brand receives the first international awards, creates new products and obtains new ministerial approvals.
Carrozzeria 71 develops its own distribution network for the installation and after-sales service of the HANDYTECH brand, currently counting over 60 authorized dealers throughout Italy. In 2006, the Handytechrent service is introduced, the most important Italian fleet of vehicles with multiple driving and transport adaptations for persons with disabilities. Handytechrent provides vehicles throughout the country that can be rented from the authorized dealers.
Handytech launches the Freetime project dedicated to all those who dream of getting back on the saddle of a motorcycle, quad or a leisure vehicle, in complete freedom.
Commitment to constant product evolution, Handytech expands its range with the production of low-floor vehicles in collaboration with the main manufacturers (Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, Toyota, Citroen, Nissan, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Opel). The Going project is born, the first wheelchair that combines electric drive and self-balancing technologies for urban mobility, in complete autonomy, and even on rough terrain.
Carrozzeria 71 and its Handytech brand become a member of the European Mobility Group, the leading consortium of manufacturers of mobility devices for persons with disabilities in Europe.
HANDYTECH is now grasping the challenge to grow as a reliable and credible company at national and international level. To this purpose, Handytech is expanding the number of Authorized Dealers in Italy and the number of international retailers, while consolidating partnerships with manufacturers to develop new products and cutting-edge solutions.
